PROTECTION | FIREARMS
Deburring | Rounding | Polishing
Subtractive manufacturing produces burrs and sharp edges, which can impair the firing components. Burrs on the magazine and slide guides can hamper smooth sliding during loading or firing.
Precisely rounded and deburred edges ensure superb reliability and trouble-free operation for all firing components. Reproducible deburring and rounding processes are therefore essential. User-friendliness and appearance are also important.
OTEC mass finishing machines can process components as bulk goods and piece goods. OTEC processes and machines guarantee reproducible surface processing, short process times and economical component processing. We offer processes tailored to specific components and suitable machine designs.
OTEC machine processing options
Matting and polishing
- Magazine, frame and slide: enhancing the general surface appearance by matting (sport firearms) or polishing (showpieces). Surfaces are ideally prepared for subsequent burnishing, for example.
- Bullets and cartridge cases: improving the function by reducing friction and enhancing the components’ appearance (showpieces) by polishing.
Deburring and rounding
- Slide, barrel, barrel bearing and frame: ensuring smooth sliding for the guide elements and the firing and loading processes.
- Firing pin, hammer, hammer strut, trigger bar, sear pawl and firing pin safety: ensuring smooth movement and perfect firing function.
Bull's eye with the OTEC process
- Precise deburring and rounding of three slides (closures) simultaneously
- Deburring and rounding of internal and external geometries
- Automated loading by robot
- Process times of a few minutes
- Repeatable processes
